Im currently obsessed with the band Slow Magic. They're so awesome even their google images page is amazing, I literally want to download every picture and make it my background for five minutes at a time, and once it goes through all, repeat. Pretty much how their music is too, it kind of grows on you. Lots of repetition with the songs can invoke a new hearing experience every time you listen to them. I even suggest you take a look at their vimeo page . Anyways I can keep talking about the magic they create or you can experience it for yourself. Obviously I'm going to chose the latter, I like people to have their own interpretations not what they expect. Enjoy

GRIZZLY BEAR-YET AGAIN

I have no idea whats going on, last week was like a musical gold rush, and this week I cannot find one song that even tickles my fancy. So I will bring it back to a song I meant to post..like three weeks ago..before this blog was even conceived. Grizzly Bear is the brainchild indie rock band of Edward Droste who was later joined by three other members; Christopher Bear(origin of grizzly bear?) Chris Taylor and Daniel Rossen. These boys have been squeezing into skinny jeans and straightening their locks since 2005, its time they get some legitimate credit. Beyonce and Jay Z seem to enjoy jamming to them at Coachella so hopefully you will too. Their new single Yet Again is pretty freaking amazing, it reminds me of being stoned on a long car drive, SO MANY REVELATIONS paired with mild paranoia. Im done typing, I just want you to listen to the song already.

I'm sure most of the (two) people reading this blog feel the same way I do about summer ending, obvi thank god(sorta). But that means I have to be responsible again, go to class..sometimes, wake up early, wear pants during the day. Im having a hard time coping with the fact I will probably have homework tomorrow, or at least books to buy. This depresses me, this song helps me cope, I'm going to go smoke some parliaments, listen to this song, and repeat. It helps, promise. xoxo

Im tired, you're tired, im hungover, you're hungover, its been a long weekend. Au revoir summer.

Sorry I was out of town losing myself in the appalachian wilderness for the past couple of days but now I'm back and I will make this post short and sweet. A song that has been on my replay since I first heard it; Mystery Colors by Astronauts Etc. Beautiful slow tempo song with haunting beats. The overall atmosphere of the song is somehow blissful towards the end. It is beautiful and different, hope you enjoy.

LATE NIITE

I certainly hope you're not sober right now, but whatever you may be doing here are some songs to assist you in your late night explorations. Don't forget your token. :-*

I SPY....CUDI

Cudder is back, and thank the lord he's smoking weed again. His new single Just What I am (ft. King Chip) proves to go heads to head in quality with some of his older songs. I must say personally as a Cudi fan, I am so happy to have the transy vocals and outer space like beats back, in comparison to Erase me, Cudi should not try to go pop, stay with what ya know. Obviously its beautiful Artist Direct gave the track 5 out of 5 stars applauding Cudi for being able to "continually evolve without ever losing his identity, which is an art in itself." Cheers Cudi, I knew you could do it! Now I'm going to go roll some sticky and understand this song an a whole different level. Enjoy, download link included.

"Weed is what you make it"

VIDEO OF THE DAY(V.O.T.D)

Today I bring you a video by Local Natives about a metaphorical shark who enjoys drinking beers with your friends and stalking your girlfriend. This video has a dark humor to it that will get even the most narrow of minds to start thinking about life. I can't even describe it and would rather you interpret it for yourself.

Is the shark a symbol for inner demons?
Does his girlfriend even form a sentence not filled with anger, or a whole sentence for that matter?
Do sharks get drunk?

SPECIAL K

Robotic Pirate Monkey is back with the release of their new EP Electric Heatwave. Following to a harder dub and baseline their new EP doesn't necessarily take on a new sound but experiments with harder bass drops and groovier tunes. It might not be as pleasing to the more transy electro ears but I promise you will find yourself bobbing your head none the less. Their released single banana cannon mixes drum and bass with a little reggae vocal and of course a nasty drop. Take a listen and best part EP is FREE!!! GET IT NOW!

Poor Gnarnia

This weekend Beech Mountain held Gnarnia the Festival. The weekend proved to be filled with bliss, music, magic, and freedom on top of the highest point on the east coast. Artists featured included Papadosio, Conspirator, Emancipator, and 12th planet.Instead it was filled with police enforcement and over 490 felony arrests. Although I did not attend the festival I had high hopes for the festival, and the last thing I thought would happen seemed to have happened. Unlike larger festivals, Gnarnians seemed to be there for the music and vibes, although it was advertised it felt a lot less mainstream and commercialized. A page has arisen on Facebook Destroy Gnarnia the Festival and is rumored to be ran by the police department(skeptical) I couldn't even scroll down the page and read the mean comments people had made. The hosts of Gnarnia never intended to have such a strong cop presence at the festival and are more than likely extremely disappointed of the literal and metaphorical bust of the past weekend. Poor gnarnia, although I wish to see you come back strong next year, the ship might have sailed.

Is it too soon to say R.I.P Gnarnia?
If so..here are some songs by artists featured at the festival to help you cope.
Hope it helps.

Meet you at Tower Records

Whats not to love about Blockhead? The Manhattan based hip-hop producer is signed with Ninja Tune record label. Ninja Tune has put out other artists such as Bonobo, Amon Tobin, and Daedelus. Blockhead released his new LP Interludes after Midnight in April 2012. Today I bring you my personal favorite off his new LP, Meet you at Tower Records. Take a listen :)

Blockhead is also known for his work with director Anthony F. Scheppard

LETS GET DRUNK WITH GRANDMA

Wanna party with your grandparents? Well modestep shows you how in my video of the day I show you what your grandparents do when you don't call them on their birthdays, they get fucked up.

WERK OUT

Feeling lazy? Need some good workout tunes. You've come to the right mix. Here is The Knocks TSIS MEGAMIX. Squeezing as many songs into 15 minutes as humanly possible this tune is a great workout mix, or party, or party by yourself. For further list of the tracks featured go tohttp://soundcloud.com/nickraymondg/the-knocks-tsis-megamix-2012 Now get off the couch and burn some calories while jamming at the same time!

I love geographer

I love geographer. Their lyrics, their beats, the way the vocals mix into the beats. They're just beautiful and thought provoking. Geographer is a San Fransico based indie-rock duo Michael Deni does vocals, guitars and synthesizers while Brian Ostreicher can be found on the drums and vocals. They have described their music as being "soulful music from outer space." The songs featured today are off their EP Animal Shapes released in 2010. Just give it a listen.

LOL Boys - Changes (Feat. Heart Streets) (Star Slinger Remix)

CASE OF THE MONDAYS.

Its Monday, enough said. Today I bring you a new track from UK based producer and DJ Star Slinger. The retro progressive beat paired with high pitched vocals somehow mixes into a beautiful chill song. I promise after the first listen you will be replaying..and replaying..and replaying. Hope this brings some funk to your Monday, enjoy.
